Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Weeve does not sell personal information in exchange for money. However, some disclosures involving analytics, advertising, or similar technologies may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under certain privacy laws. This page explains your choices and allows you to submit an opt-out request.

Submit your opt-out request

You may ask Weeve not to sell or share your personal information where this right is provided by applicable law. You do not need to create an account to make a request.

Start your request

1. Weeve’s practices

Weeve does not sell personal information in exchange for money.

We may disclose limited personal information to service providers that help us operate our websites, process payments, communicate with customers, provide customer support, prevent fraud, analyze website performance, manage vehicles, and provide our rental, subscription, car-sharing, and fleet services.

Our service providers are expected to use personal information only to provide services to Weeve or as otherwise permitted by applicable law.

Advertising and analytics technologies

We may use website analytics, advertising pixels, cookies, tags, or similar technologies. Depending on the technology, the information involved, and where you live, disclosing information through these technologies may legally be considered “selling,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising even when no money is exchanged.

2. What “sell” or “share” means

Privacy laws may define these terms more broadly than their ordinary meaning.

Sale

A “sale” may include making personal information available to another organization in exchange for money or another form of valuable consideration.

Sharing

“Sharing” may include making personal information available to another organization for cross-context behavioural advertising or similar targeted-advertising activities, whether or not money is exchanged.

Operational disclosures

Disclosures to service providers that process personal information on Weeve’s behalf under appropriate contractual restrictions may not be considered a sale or sharing under certain privacy laws.

5. What happens after you submit a request

1
We receive the request

Your request is sent to Weeve’s support and privacy team for review.

2
We locate relevant information

We use the information supplied to identify the relevant account, browser, device, or interaction.

3
We process the choice

We apply the request where required and respond within the period established by applicable law.

Once an applicable opt-out has been processed, Weeve will not knowingly sell or share the covered personal information unless you later authorize us to do so or another legal exception applies.

An opt-out request does not prevent disclosures that are reasonably necessary to provide requested services, process payments, maintain vehicles, prevent fraud, protect safety, comply with legal obligations, or work with service providers acting on Weeve’s behalf.

6. Verification and information matching

We may need to match the information in your request with information already maintained by Weeve. We may contact you for clarification or additional information when reasonably necessary to identify the correct account or prevent fraudulent requests.

Opt-out requests generally should not require extensive identity verification. However, additional verification may be necessary if your request also asks Weeve to disclose, correct, or delete account information.

7. Requests submitted by an authorized agent

Where permitted by applicable law, an authorized agent may submit an opt-out request on your behalf.

We may ask the agent to provide evidence of authorization. We may also contact you directly to confirm that you authorized the request, unless applicable law provides otherwise.

An authorized agent should email support@weeve.ca with the subject line Authorized Privacy Request.

8. Non-discrimination

Weeve will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

Exercising an opt-out right will not result in the unlawful denial of services, a different level or quality of service, or a different price solely because you exercised that right.

Differences that are reasonably related to the value of personal information or otherwise permitted by applicable law may still apply.

9. Other privacy rights

This page is specifically intended for requests concerning the sale or sharing of personal information and targeted advertising.

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or information about how your personal information is used and disclosed.
